Hey folks, I just wanted to get a concensus on the grade of this morgan. To see if you guys are seeing what im seeing. All opinions and replies are appreciated. Many thanks to all members who take the time to vote and/or comment.
The lighting for your photos continues to plague me. I'm tempted to say it's a problem coin because I don't see any luster at all. Chris
1899-O is not a "weak strike" O year, which leads me to believe that is wear on the eagle's breast. AU.
I'll guess 58 . My Mother gave me a Unc. roll of '99-O Morgans when I really got serious collecting , I guess they were what was left after she paid for her wedding gown with Morgans around 1949 . I kept the best and traded the others . So I have a soft spot for '99-Os .
The toning and light throw a curve into this assessment. But the high points look good to me. I gave it a 63. Cheek and fields very clean. The luster is probably lacking and holds it back from going any higher.
I wanted to say MS64, but the photos make it look so lackluster that I have to believe it has a dipped washed out look and deserves a net grade, so I went with MS62. Furthermore, I don't understand why the holder looks blue in your photos, who graded this?
I think it's not graded or was cracked out. AU58 is my guess. Possibly AU/UNC det - improperly cleaned
Its a raw coin in a capital-like holder. Furthermore the lustre is what i would describe as metallic, the photos make it appear muted or non-existent but it is there. Disregard the last photo, it was taken at an angle as to show the surface not lustre
