Happy springtime pagan fertility celebration to you all! In the Christian world it has been transmuted into Easter. With regards to today's celebrations, I've always wondered how rabbits could have chicken eggs, but I guess that's one of the Great mysteries of life. To celebrate rabbits, here are a couple Bugs Bunnys. Images by Bob Campbell, and I think he did an excellent job.
Glad to see more than just the 1955 here! Many people are not aware that the Bugs Bunny die clash occurs in all but one year of Franklin half dollars.
I googled bug bunny franklin...its not really clear... can someone fill me in on the upper lip? Sorry, newbie here
I also learned something today that there are other Franklin's Bugs Bunny dates. Thanks Skyman "Great Collection" I'm going to post mine soon.
Sometimes when a coin is made the coin planchet is not fed in properly. The obverse and reverse dies strike each other and impart part of their designs to the other die. This is called a die clash. All subsequent strikes of the dies then produce coins with the clashed design. In the case of the Bugs Bunny Franklins the clash makes Ben look like he has big front teeth, like Bugs Bunny, hence the name of the variety.
