I was just going through my coin cases, and I cam across a loose dime, so I pulled everything out and put it in the bag i keep all of my dimes in. Well I pulled out some more of my dimes and just started looking out of curiousity. Then I found my Mercs. and I remembered that my grandmother had given me all of her duplicates that she had about a year ago. I put them in a dime book for safe keeping. well, when I saw my loose mercs, i remember that i put them in the book at her house in NC. so I went to pull out my merc. book, and it is GONE! It had about 10 or 15 dimes in it, and they are alll gone! all of them! now the only Mercs I have are the 4 that werent in the book! I'm devastated! :headbang:
Man! I would be to! Maybe you might find them. They might have been just moved somewhere. Did you ask your grandmother if she saw them? Phoenix
No I'm scared to ask! she might yell at me for losing them! This opens up a whole new can of warms! How much do they go for? I have seen on ebay for an ounce (11-13 coins) of them is $17.49. This is just a quick glance though, I havent done any digging.
It all depends, if all they are worth is melt. What dates were in it? Pray that there was no 16 D. Phoenix
Lol, I'm sure that there were no super duper rare ones in there...They are all hers from her collection that she pulled out of circulation through the years.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe they'll turn up though. Regardless of their monetary value, its gotta suck to lose part of your collection.
Oh well, its not the end of the world I guess. I can always start over...they arent that expensive from what I can tell anyway. I have bought some pretty good ones for about $1.75 or so...
Well, if they were at her house, she would have given them back to me already, because this was a year ago!
I lost a Nolan Ryan and Jerry Koozman Rookie card just like that. And my Green Lantern show cases were similarly stolen. Thats why these things get so expensive. The destruction and loss rate for them even from collectors is incredibly high. Ruben
If I were you I'd just bite the bullet, so to speak, and ask your grandmother if she knows what happened to those dimes. You may have misplaced them and she figured you were not carefull with them. She may just be trying to teach you a lesson. If however, she dosen't have them she may look for them and find them. The worst thing is that they are lost and nothing can bring them back then so just accept that and move on. Of course there could have been some valuable ones there but the real value was that they were a gift from your grandmother.
Well, even if they were of any value, all the ones i had in that book were from her, and they were her doubles. plus when she dies, all of her coins are heired to me, so i will get them all over again. but thats not the point ofit. those coins have a lot more sentimental value
That stinks. I bought a nice broadstruck quarter a year or two ago and now I can't find it anywhere. Sure would like to know what happened to it. Hope you find your coins!
