Question regarding chop mark on Peruvian coin

    So I picked this up at the Baltimore coin show for $0.50(I'm a big spender...).
    I'm wondering if the chop mark is legit to the time or if someone added it afterwards. Any thoughts?

    I think someone was trying to make their own version of a chopmark. Note how the impressions overlap. This indicates that separate impressions of the same shape were used to form the whole thing. A true oriental chopmark would all be incorporated into one symbol.

    nope. Which is what had me curious about it in the first place. Why would there be chop marks on a copper/nickel coin.
