    Well Gentlemen,

After much thought and consideration I have decided to send the majority of my Latin American collection to auction. (Shipped them off this past Tuesday) It's not a large collection, about 223 pieces.

I thought I would post a few pictures of some them and say a little farewell. I have GREATLY ENJOYED their company these past several years!

By the way, I am by no means quiting. I've already bought 6 coins since Wednesday lol! Just refocusing what I am collecting and needed a little extra cash... I will post more pics as I find them.

    I hope you enjoy :)

Incredible coins; I am sorry you are letting them go but I hope they help you find other coins you enjoy.

Very nice coins. I'm sure you enjoyed their company but I think it's also exciting to refocus like you said.

Trust me, it's not easy! I love that coin '47 Balboa... she has been in the same paper envelope since 1986 (and still is today). Our oldest son is Autistic and we are having to relocate since his school's program is moving. So that is part of the reason. Need a little down payment $$$

The collection includes several of them. One balboa is blast white but is an Uber gem.

I think he meant '47 and my wife noted that I stared at that particular coin for just a little too long... :angelic:

Sorry to hear that, my cousin, whos 10, has it. His parents have made alot of changes in their life cause of it. And it isnt cheap.

But at least your not getting out of the hobby.

They looks like some fantastic stuff. Latin american coins are some of the most attractive around for moderns, to me.

Has anyone else used Goldberg Coins Auctioneers? (Ira & Larry Goldberg)... I called several of the larger Auction houses but didn't find much help and some were quite rude without even knowing what I had to sell. Larry Goldberg personally spoke with me for nearly 20 minutes and has called me back twice following up on the status of the cataloging and selling process. So far I've been amazed at their customer service. Now, hopefully they can deliver the buyers! Lol. I feel confident in the decision to go with them. Dr. J

I don't know enough about Stack's but have dealt with Great Collections. I find the owner to be quite helpful. I certainly will take a look at your coins on Goldberg's web site. I hope that the auction goes well for you.

I sense that you and your wife have made many great sacrifices raising an autistic child. It takes a great deal of patience and fortitude. I wish you and your family well.

Yeah I've heard great things about Great Collections. I considered them but their lower volume of world coins scared me...

Thanks for the kind comment's. Being autistic or raising an autistic child is like growing older... 'It ain't for sissies' :)

Wow. Nice. So when you auction to one of these places, do they auction the whole collection? Or is it split up? Let us know the results

Some coins are auctioned individually and others will be sold in lots depending on rarity, condition etc....

I understand the feeling where you have to let some of your finest coins go for other things that matter more. Family will ALWAYS trump material items. But it sure hurts when you have to let them go. I had collected a BU GEM 1932-1964 Washington Silver Quarter set (the 32-D and 32-S were AU). For personal reasons I had to let it go and it went for almost 2K. It was the hardest thing I had to do in reference to coins. At least the individual that I sold it to was a real nice person and told me it was going to a real nice home. Someone once told me...all we are; are caretakers of the coins we collect until the next person cares for them. You never know you may see the ' 47 again somewhere in the future.

You know once the decision is made To sell, the question of How and Where and When To sell becomes as important as the decision to sell itself. There's tons of auction houses and they each have tons of venues. The good thing is that you have tons of choices. I think I've made the right decision for my collection.

I'm looking forward to watching the auction from the comfort of my couch and laptop like it was the Super Bowl lol!
