Hi all, I've come across these silver dollars on Craigslist and I'm questioning their authenticity. I wouldn't want to waste any time pursuing them if they are obvious replicas. What do you guys think? http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/clt/4960094309.html Thanks in advance!
If you are unable to tell on your own if they are "obvious" fakes, does this not tell you anything? I am not saying this to be mean, and it's certainly good that you asked before jumping in, but when/if buying from a venue such as craigslist, a little common sense is needed. And for a little friendly advice, even with the out of focus photos, the supposed "older coins" are indeed fake and should suggest something about the others. Good luck to you.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions. It seemed too good to be true, but I wanted to get a second opinion just to be sure. Thanks!
The 1893 alone should tell you fake. That date, with any mint mark, in decent condition is worth a heck of a lot more than 12 bucks.
They don't look real to me, and the price is a red flag. And any of the older US Dollars (before 1878) sell much higher than that.
