I just recently bought a 1960 Quarter. It was nice and shiny in its little cardboard protector. I paid $5 for it, and the protector says that it is a proof, but I noticed that it doesnt have an S mint mark. It has no mint mark on it at all, which led me to believe that it was from Philidelphia. But I know that the Philidelphia mint doesnt produce proofs. I'm fairly certain that it is a proof, simply because of its luster. ITs not like a brand new coin from the mint. I was just wondering if maybe they didnt put the S mint on some of them or something?
The Philadelphia produced the proof sets up through 1964. San Francisco didn't being minting the sets until 1968.
Not a bad buy. Could we see some pics? And yeah, Philly did the proofs then, later came San fransisco. Phoenix
Here are some pics! Sorry, but I'm not the best photographer and I dont have much experience taking pics of coins!
I thought it was a little pricey, but I'm just a kid with not a lot of silver, so I thought it would be a nice indulgment!
Is it just me, or is that a deep cameo possibly? Looks like it from the pics IMO. If it is, a really awesome buy. :thumb: Phoenix
Lol, I dont know about all that cameo stuff... I just bought it because it was pretty, and it is silver!
