And to me, "delivered" means "relinquished from the carrier's custody according to the terms of the service for which the shipper paid". If it was sent "signature required", it's not "delivered" until they get your signature. If it was sent by standard mail, it's "delivered" once it lands in your mailbox. If people are stealing from your mailbox, you could probably get postal authorities involved to try to catch the perpetrators, but it's certainly not the fault of either eBay or the seller.

I don't expect eBay to cover losses due to theft, and I don't want to pay the kind of surcharges that such coverage would entail.

I agree, and I don't understand how people can pay hundreds to thousands of dollars on coins and not be willing to fork out less than $50 a year on a P.O. box. Even assuming that the mail is not stolen, it is a security issue to say the least.

the seller went outside ebay guidelines, save yourself and contact eBay and tell them what's going on. You owe the seller nothing and you could suffer any consequences.....CALL EBAY AND LET THEM KNOW

But if you have it delivered to an address other than your registered address you lose buyers protection anyway. (My registered address IS my work address.)

If someone is 'loosing' money, he needs to tighten up!
