Not too sure about grading Early US coins - Curious to know if you think this coin should be graded? Or what grade you might give it. It's got a even dark tone throughout even along the edges with no loss. Their is a Golden tone of mint luster coming through the Matte toning in the fields and dark patina around devices. Thank you guys for checking it out and your opinions on the grade.
It will grade, but it may be a problem coin. I don't see that many scratches, and I think the most noticeable crack is a die crack on the obverse.
1818 O-109a...an R-1 die marriage (extremely common--more than 1000 examples known). Looks to be a solid XF--maybe AU on the right day. My personal opinion is that it isn't worth slabbing--the added value wouldn't cover the grading costs. Other people's opinions may vary.
