    Looks like damage on the rim of the '57........

    [edit] Oh, I see. Between the 'B' and 'E' in Liberty.

    The 57 is a die chip known as a Bie ... The dime shown is a MAD.. misaligned Die. Providing of course the reverse is not the same way. In which case you have a minor off center.

    The most prominent "BIE" is on the 1955-S Lincoln. It was a big deal for a year or two when I was a kid. If I can find one around here, I'll post it.

    I found about 4 or 5 dimes like that when I was going through a box. I didn't know anything about them so I held onto them. Thanks for posting it so I could learn a little about it. They're kind of neat looking.

    Couldn't find mine, so I picked two shots out of Google Images. These are two different coins.

    They are no big deal now, retail 50c to $2, depending on condition. In those days, almost everything that was out of the ordinary was called a "diebreak". o_O
