I don't think so. It looks more flat/shelf-like than an RPM. Like a tiny "D" on top of a bigger one. Could be wrong though :)

Never thought of that, your saying chance of MD. After looking I notice the size problem.

Any chance it is a RPM than??

Are you sure it's 1962? This is what a 1964 looks like. Almost like yours

While you could be, from what I can see, I don't believe you are wrong on this one.

I agree, I think the mint mark punch has wear deterioration

There is machine doubling all over the reverse leaves, torch. That's a hard call. Looks like a rpm.

I'm not an RPM expert. Learning myself. Just trying to give the OP some direction. Would be nice to find one :wideyed:

The original mint mark, has raised areas all around the mm. The pictured one only to the south and east.

I'm understanding now. So shelf like look. This is what is meant by wear deterioration on the mintmark then?

I agree as I had a roll of unc.56 D Nickels about 20 of them Looked To Be RPM. After sending them in all were MD from die deterioration .
I was talking today with a member here today on the phone. Our conversation was about how your eyes and brain do plays tricks on you at times.
You look at a coin and see something. Yet another person may not see what you're seeing . I find this a lot in images. As you really need to train both eyes and brain to look at it both ways.
I do find that sometimes it's hard to train your self as once convenience you're more likely to go with what you think you see as apposed to what's really there.

Looks like machine doubling. Note the step down and the mint mark size is reduced.
