This appears to be a 1943 copper penny!!!

    This coin is damaged obviously. The 3 is hard to see but looks like a 3. Is it? photo.JPG

    Welcome to the forum! It's hard to say. It could either me a 0, 3, or 8 but it has a large gash right where it counts. These coins are so rare that I don't think it would be though.

    Thanks. It doesn't look like a 0 or 8. It looks like a 5 or a 3. I wish someone on here could tell. That way I can know if I have a million dollar coin or not and get some sleep tonight. lol

    Looks like a 45-D that lost a fight with a garbage disposal.

    Just a zoomed in image for clarification... Compare it to the real 43' above. The 3 obviously goes well below the 4 in the actual 43'.

    It does not look at all like a 43 to me, my guess is a 45.
