I got this dinky little thing, 9mm 0.52g and with the reference Vlasto 1517. Examples I have see at acsearch look slightly different, I see no control marks. Can anyone help me out with a reference. It is supposed to be an obol.
Try Vlasto 1473, Vlasto 1579 or Vlasto 1595cf. From what I can see they are all possibilities; however, the reverse on your coin is worn and off center to a point where it is hard to tell.
Thank you. It is hard to see with the naked eye but the camera seems to show the beginnings of rainbow toning.
This is definitely a case where the coin looks better "in hand" (or for a 9mm coin perhaps we should say "on finger") than it does blown up to the size of a serving platter. I'm not saying large images don't have their merits, but now you should post a pic of the coin in your hand.
Mikey Zee => awesome job tracking-down that seafood-coin!! => yup Pishpash, that's a very cool lookin' silver litra!! (yummy, congrats!!)
Sadly, I don't have one of those specific examples (*rats*) ... ummm, but I am a collector of cool seafood coins!! (can I toss them into your yummy thread?) ... I hope the answer is "yup" 'cause here they come, my sweet sister-coiner!! ... ummm, is it okay to include "dolphins" in the seafood category??!! => sorry, Charlie!!
