And mine is worn and off center to the opposite side. I'd be glad to own either of the two shown:

50% off (in my case) is exactly correct, Doug. :)

I also favor wear over roughness, Doug-----I think it's the lesser of two 'evils' when it comes to eye appeal...But even that is relative: excessive wear can trump roughness when the former is severe...and some of the members have shown some excellent examples of minor conservation that had dramatic results..And, no, I do not favor cleaning, tooling and smoothing that eliminates the 'ancient' character of the coin...But 'improvement' of the coin can simply be a personal preference

I also agree with Doug and others that small flan cracks etc not being a great concern to me and actually allow the coin to be affordable to me on my rather limited budget--otherwise, I'd be buying only two or three coins the entire year tops!! Yikes, That's a nightmare scenario LOL

We do this discussion every so often and there is no answer that will satisfy all. An annual coin budget of $10,000 could be consumed by a ~$27 coin every day or a down payment on one half decent aureus. Most of us probably fall in the middle range; not buying a coin for four days does not mean you are 'on the wagon' and buying 20 coins at a show does not mean you are a loose cannon despite what the spouse says.

There is no "despite" when it comes to what the spouse says.
