After reading the write up in the Numismatic News ,I decided to check over some of my coins. I had put together a set back in 1964 of both the P & D coins. I just dug it out for the heck of it, this set was put together in a Capital holder when I was ten....some 51 years ago! I found this ...but it's not the 64 D it's it's the 64 P ! 64 Hot lip Roosevelt 1A.jpg 64 Roosevelt hot lips 1B.jpg 64 Roosevelt hot lip 3A.jpg
As to the image I saw on the cover of Numismatic News this looks to be it?

Nice one--it's really dramatic! :D I think a DDO is the only explanation.

John Wexler has a DDO on the lips and head on a 1964-D dime.

so you all think it's the Hot Lips? If it is then there's 4 now the 53 S ,55 S ,64D, and now the 64 P

I'm not very knowledgeable here, but if were some kind of MD or "bounce", I would think it would also be visible on the tip of the nose and chin...nice find, hope it's a discovery piece! :D
