Here it is. Number five-thousand. The big five-oh-oh-oh. According to the site, I joined CT on 18 July 2007 – nearly eight years ago. I think that might make me the longest active ancient collector on this board.

You guys are the coin club I never had. You've seen me go from collecting World and Ancient coins, with the occasional US type piece thrown in, to just World and Ancient, to just Ancient, to just incredibly esoteric Ancient. I've shared most of my favorite pieces with you and, in turn, seen most of yours. I've seen the ancients section on this site go from being one or two casual collectors to the hoard of nutjobs that it is today.

I hope to be here with you all for at least another five thousand posts.

Yeah, this group can get a little nutty at times, but in a good way.

Aha! Just as I suspected! All of you Ancient collectors are crazy. I'll look forward to your next 5,000 posts if someone doesn't have you committed first.

    Peace, brother!

I have to confess having feeled myself sometimes a bit alone here as an ancient coins collector at the begening.

    Now it's really fun

I guess I am just a talker, (though not lately). I joined in 2010 but had my 15,000th post a few months ago. I think I am pretty close to you Bill in esotericedness, (if that could possibly be a word).

I posted a lot more in the beginning, when there weren't enough ancient collectors to answer the questions that pop up. Now with Bing and Doug and everyone here, I don't bother responding to anything less than a tetradrachm. ;-)

I suggest we strike a coin to commemorate the event. VIVAT ARDATIRION.
obv. Helmeted draped curriased bust of Bill, right. No Legend.
rev. VIVAT ARDATIRION, Numeral V, large money chest on reverse, all within an oak wreath.

Gold, silver, or copper? Or just mint them in all three?

Electrum usually has a bit of each in it - that gets my vote for simplicity.

    Congratulations on your milestone!
