Did anyone else receive a card in the mail about the lawsuit against eBay related to listings that sellers placed on eBay using the listing duration called “Good ‘Til Cancelled” ?
yes I got one, but I'm not participating because I was not dumb enough to think placing a good til cancelled listing would be exempt of fees for eternity.
Go get your money, I've been involved in class action law suits before, mostly against credit cards. My wife is in one now against an insurance company for denying medicine payments ...
Yep, you are correct it says on the card Attorneys fees and costs for plaintiffs and the class have requested 1.6 million plus other payments.
$6.4 million dollars isn't going to divide up into any sizeable amounts amongst the millions of ebay sellers that have used the GTC option.
I didn't get a card, but I did get an email about this. If you do nothing they will credit your account for the "damages", or you can opt out which would be odd ... if you have more than $2 credit owed you then they will issue a check, otherwise it will be deducted from your balance owed. The only thing they want to know is your eBay address correct, if not, then they ask you to correct it in eBay, or if your eBay account has been closed to give corrected info on the court site.
You don't have to do anything other than make sure your current address is the one eBay has for you. They will post your refund to your account if less than $2 or they'll send you a check if they owe you more than $2. I'm expecting a check.
Yes I got one .....don't hold your breath,or count your money Ken is correct the lawyer's will Suck that well of cash dry. My luck I'll get an IOU sent postage due. Funny I've been notified a few times on such a class action suits. I can't recall ever getting anything not even a follow up notice.
There are class action lawsuits all the time, but you usually have to fill out a form to claim something. I've gotten quite a few checks over the years. Usually not what I spent on the product or whatever, but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.... *EDIT* Ok, a quick Google search suggests that the following site is for this class action suit: https://secure.dahladmin.com/NOLL/Index It only covers "The “Class Period” means (1) for Stores Listings, the period from March 30, 2010 to June 19, 2012, and (2) for Core Listings and Motors Listings, the period from September 16, 2008 to June 19, 2012." I think my usage of that posting method was after 2012....
I know, but according to the email, the suit has already been settled and approved by the court. The lawyers get $200K, the two plaintiff that brought the suit get $15K each, the group will include all who have used GTC option during the period and eBay will pay the group $2.1 billion (if I remember the amount correctly).
