    Hello,

I figured I would go ahead and scan a few coins for you guys to look at. There are some from the usa and others from around the world. I provided front and back scans. If you would like a higher resolution scan of a certain coin please let me know. Thanks!

There are some coins that do have silver in it, which is fortunately worth more than a few dollars. Unfortunately I don't see if there are any outstanding there. Perhaps someone can tell you better what coins have silver and how many ounces there are. At least you know US coins are worth their face value. Other world coins aren't necessarily worth their face value any longer.

That’s a nice start to collecting do not worry how much they are worth if you like them.

Thanks for the welcome philly dog, I used to collect coins a few years back by looking through bunches and comparing them with ones worth more in books from the library. I never had anything worth much but it was fun all the same to have pieces of history. I have a few more coins buried somewhere in my room. I thought I'd get back into looking things up. Who knows, perhaps someday I'll stumble on an interesting piece. :D

Krause will have most of the values for them...precious metal content often has nothing at all to do with pricing and they are worth what a person will pay for them. I have a few nickel, copper, bronze coins whose values far exceed the face value, just like many American coins (penny, collar, nickels) are worth quite a lot of money and their worth far exceed the metal content.

I am like you though, the value of the coins are historical, they are little metal discs of history and the thrill of them is often more the historic and aesthetic value than melt value...they prompt me to learn more about the country they are from...in the end they are inventive little propaganda pieces.

You have a nice start to a world coins collection and the best thing is, its a ever ending project you can collect world coins your whole life and never say ‘I have a complete collection’ :)

You can also look up your coins here:

Most of your coins will be there, I could go down the list and ID them for you but whats the fun in that.
