My friend's grandfather just passed away and he left a coin collection for his family. This is one of the coins from the collection my friend asked me about. It's a 1922 peace dollar. I noticed in the red book there were high reliefs made for that year. He had also found out the same online, that's why he was asking me about it. I told him it is extremely unlikely that it is the HR but I'd try to figure out more. So, experts, please weigh in. Either way, it's unfortunate that the obverse appears to have been wiped with some sort of abrasive.

It is actually VERY easy to tell difference between a regular 1922 Peace and a 1922 High and Medium Relief. Sadly this is a regular 1922
I did a Google search and found there is a difference in the E of LIBERTY. From what I found, the lower bar of the E is longer on the regular low relief than it is on the high relief.
The crown on a High/Medium relief are very different than a regular 1922. If you want just turn that coin over and at the reverse with the "ONE" if the ray that goes thru the "N" stops at the "N" then you have boring o'le 1922. If that ray goes all the way through the "N" and continues out the top then you have a special coin. Easy to tell.
Close, the spike BY the lower bar of the E is longer on the regular relief coins. On the high relief it barely reaches the top edge of the lower bar of the E. On the regular low relief it almost reaches the middle bar of the E (as on the OP coin).
