Proofs only come from US Mint. What you probably find, are possible MS coins. Which if circulated, will show some kind of wear, under close scrutiny....

    $80 CWR nickels:
    - Silver (1): 42-P
    - Pre-1960 (12): 39, 40-S, 46 (x2), 48-S, 52, 53-D, 54-D, 56-D, 57-D, 58, 59

I have another $5 cents to go through from my latest box and then the hobby has to go on a shelf for a few weeks so I can focus on moving next weekend.

I recently stopped at my local bank and asked if they had any $1 coins. The teller gave me these 2 rolls. According to the U S Mint site, these coins have "never been placed in circulation". I'm wondering what grade they are, and value. Thanks

Actually some proof coins escape into the "wild". It is possible that they are proof coins (i couldn't see from the pictures) I've found like 5 proof halves so far.

Without opening the rolls, here's pictures of the "ends".

Looking at the pictures those are MS in my opinion and not proof.

They are proof coins-not MS. They have that special proof-like surface. They both have the S on the coin designating they are proof coins. I took the pictures with my phone so they aren't clear enough to see that.

Maybe a private mint, like the Franklin Mint, but the US Mint does not color coins, nor do they sell them.

Picked up one box of pennies- found the usual wheats, and a 1858 Flying Eagle. It was pretty beat up and dirty, but neat that something so old could still be floating around.

I don't know what to tell you, but these coins ARE from the U.S. Mint...I have the receipt to prove it! If I post a better picture of the receipt, will you believe me then?
