HA HA HA (here):goofer: 1894 Morgan Silver Dollar Cert F14 Key Date Coin I just get a kick out of these-
I've never heard of the World Coins Certification Services. It sounds like a shady self-slabber similar to SGS. Aidan.
Actually I have a question - is that coin inside genuine??? Seems a bit unusual for some reason but I can't quite tell what it might be. It just seems wear is not consistent...
That's a pretty harsh assessment Aidan. No question about the self-slabbing part though - that"s a Coin World logo at the upper right corner of the reverse photo.
Roy,by the looks of it,the logo is on the outer casing of the slab.I wasn't sure what that logo was. Thanks for clarifying what it is though. Isn't it easy to buy your own slab casings & inners,& put your slabs together? Aidan.
At first I thought you were making reference to the F14 Tomcat. He can call it an F6F Hellcat for all these bidders care. 18 hrs to go... I say he gets his price...these babies can only go up.
This is a listing I wrote a few weeks ago- These coins happened to be in a collection I purchased & didnt know how to get rid of them-They were in the same type of CoinWorld Holders- HERE I thought I was pretty blunt with my description but to my amazment the bids still went to stupid money -
I think the reason the coin looks strange is that it has been polished to an almost mirror surface! I think the self slabber forgot to add "Cleaned" to the label. LOL.
The more I look at the coin it seems to look like it has a removed S mintmark. Maybe Im just staring too hard . Any one else see it ?
Budgood, you were staring too hard.I couldn't see any trace of a removed 'D','S',or 'O' mintmark under the wreath bow on the reverse.I can guess that it is just an 1894 Plain (Philadelphia Mint) issue coin. Aidan.
It looks either like a fairly circulated coin with alot of haymarking or light "Whizzing" or as many have said, a fake. Certianly the holder does not do it any credit.
