The CCAC has suggested, starting in 2017 to be issued each year for 10 years, one new "Liberty" design alternating between the dime and quarter to run side by side with the current issues . A total of 10 new designs, each to be discontinued after 1 year. Circulation issues. What say you? I can see a huge cash cow coming out of this and a mess for albums unless you buy a blank page to go along with your current album. I can also see special sets (silver unc./silver proofs, etc.) further draining money from collectors. That's just my humble opinion though.

I think it's dumb idea for the same reasons that you said. But I also think it would be good to see the liberty coinage coming back. And this could be a step in the right direction.

After realizing how successful the SQ Program became, the Mint has gotten so greedy that it doesn't care about anything but bleeding every collector for every cent they can.

Maybe they should do a 75th Anniversary 2-coin set in 2020 for the Atomic Bomb - one for Hiroshima and one for Nagasaki. What do you think they'll do in 2026?

I think it might bring some more new collectors to the hobby, much like the State Quarter program did back in 1999.

Cant wait to see what they look like! I haven't been alive for a coin design change! (besides America the Beautiful which i wont count because its not a full design change). Please post pictures when they come out.

What's irking me to some degree is the fact that they have stated as they cannot eliminate the regular design for a one year issue because of "offending certain political constituencies". Politics should play no part in coinage design or re-design. They are also leaning toward a remake of the Standing Liberty quarter but as of yet their are no photos to show as this is all a work in progress and must pass legislative procedures first.

I think the US Mint should go bk to basic. When they start to get cute the coins start to get ugly and more ugly.

They'll probably do an SLQ-TD in gold......that's Standing Liberty Quarter-Thousand Dollar ($250) and sell it for $599.95.
