    Fair enough....

Guys, Gals.......the plated issues were sold as a novelty item and with the hopes that people would buy into them because of the precious metal content that was bonded to the surface of the quarter. The actual precious metal that was bonded amounted to a minuscule pittance of value, yet people payed exorbitant sums of money to receive them.......

With all due respect, Ethan; when someone comes here claiming to be well known in the "coin buiz" and representing uninformed opinion as fact, if they catch a little good-natured ribbing, that's exactly what they deserve.

And as for helping and educating, you're right... but also remember that there are plenty who read these forums yet never post, so ask yourself this: who should we care more about.. the guy spewing nonsense or those who, long shot or not, might actually believe it?

Since no one put a gun to his head and forced him to make the value and rarity claims he did, or to imply he knows what he's talking about, there is nothing wrong with pressing him to put up or dig his own hole.

I guess I can understand that but I knew immediately he did not know....it was obvious so I saw no need to rib him any...my opinion.

Ethan, Ethan, dear Ethan.......if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. :)

A bit of hazing is not untoward.

Would you guys stop letting the cat out of the bag about the rarity of the gold plated coins, I'm trying to hoard all that I can while the getting is good. I want to retire while I'm still young; Geez!

I respect that, and we all knew from the start what was going on, but sometimes there can be a valuable lesson hidden inside some good-natured "fun". I highly doubt anyone has a problem with or meant ill towards this young gentleman, but would much prefer to see him be himself.... just my opinion.
