Show me where i proceeded to tell someone they were wrong on grade?? Also show me the part where i told EVERYONE they were wrong...Are you already drunk man? Pace yourself when drinking on St Pattys Day next year
Sorry if I inadvertently hit a nerve. I'll try and phrase things better next time. I wasn't saying I saw a lusterless coin, just that I didn't see luster in the pics. I saw a lot of glare off the case. I see plenty of luster in @Jaredbd's pic. And, looking back at the pics, maybe it has a more satiny luster (which is hard to capture in a photograph) rather than booming luster. Maybe the other coin you posted is the same. The fault may lie in my eyes. Or, it may lie in the photo (I've seen you post way better pics) or the coin. All I'm saying is I can't tell. Let me put it one other way: given the photo, unless I'd bought from you before, I don't think I'd buy that coin as better than a high AU.
No Biggie, Im still learning who's who on here and I (thus far) thought you were a pretty good dude and quite knowledgeable. I guess it just seemed odd both threads got the same reply.. I got off work early today and im not Irish but i decided to drink one and then another and so on and so forth... Im obviously a red neck when i drink because i was fine w your post yesyerday... So heres my big chance: I apologize to you and anyone else i may have upset w my snide comments!
Oh and btw it probably is my fault because i just pointed and clicked the camera on both coins... As soon as i came home from the show they went up on here w/o much thought...
No problem, I like editing coin photos. Anyways, Nice coin (MS-65 or not) Let me know through PM if you want any other photos done, I need some practice with my software.
Thanks, im going to a show sunday, so ill probably pm you sunday evening with my new purchases for editing...
(obv)As far as peace dollars This coin has an above average strike (most don't) I can see it in the 1st two pics (hair detail) around the ear. (rev) details on the eagles upper wing (shoulder area) is also above avg. And luster seems to be there but with alot of the earlier slabs (NGC,Anacs,PCI,SEGS) Are known to tone coins in this manner have a look at some of them and you'll see what I'm talking about. As far as your coin goes IMO is it's a 65 strike wise but I think the contact marks (black spot on cheek,(rev)three dots limits the overall eye appeal and keeps it in a 64 grade.
I'd say its a 63 with a shot at 64. The luster looks weak, the mark on her cheek brings the grade down, and there are some serious looking reed marks on teh reverse. The toning looks original and somewhat attractive, but its not really enough to move the grade or price.
