I'm new here, so I decided to post my avatar image. It's a porous Fugio. It is a Newman 1-L R.5 Cross after date variety. One of the earliest varieties. It came from a trusted dealer at a good price. Thoughts, opinions? Thanks. Scott
Looks like one I recently purchased, but I think I overpaid a bit for mine... I couldn't resist getting a colonial and a Fugio when I could...I purchased it off e-bay ....and I don't have a file photo---- my cell and mini-cam suck at clear photos so I can't post it for comparison...hope I didn't buy a fake....LOL Very Nice Coin!!!
Very nice Fugio, I do not own a single copper in the U.S. from that time. The only colonial coins I own were found metal detecting, all are early and made all over the world. I'm very tempted to buy a Fugio or any kind of state copper, just not sure I could afford one in the condition yours is in.
I got this from an ebay seller who goes by the name 'indeetlib'. He always has lots of stuff like this, old US coppers. His prices seem to be pretty honest.
Indeetlib is a good guy. I think any Fugio is a cool coin, due to the age, design and motto and the link to Franklin. I have a few of them.
Not sure. It's a bit more difficult with the porosity when there are no really obvious attributing features. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than myself could help you out though.
