Stirring up trouble 2009D lincoln ddo?

I have a few of 2009-D Lincoln Presidential reverse 1c with some unusual features. I think they are similar to this one:

except mine don't have the die crack above the eye.
I sent them to a well known attributor who told me the thickness on liberty is normal for that year and they were just normal coins.

Here are what I consider to be the DDO. Any advice on this? Drop it or persist?

 

Looks like it could be DDO, might be MD. I find it very hard to tell the difference

 

unless u can match up all the markers i'd drop it an move on...or it will end up costing u way more than the coin is worth in attribution fees..

 

Even with DDO that minor they are not worth sending in.

 

I'm not sending it in. I don't need more humiliation.. lol. However the BERTY is notched, thick, B, and R have almost separation lines spread to the East. The date has a bulge to the East on the 2, and the 00 are folded and distorted on top and also spread to the East.

 

I'll put it back in the box with all my other questionable coins. Thank you for your interest and replies! I'll have to tilt that USB microscope a little more to make the "separation lines" more apparent... LOL

 

I agree, the notching is why I am saying it could be DDO. DDO is common on that year though, maybe worth $5 or so if really ddo

 

One of the problems is that some people tend to make up their own terminology when they can't remember or think of the correct term. What should be called "split serifs" has morphed into "notched or notching", and this can be misleading.

I don't see any split serifs.

Not necessarily... "worth" all depends on one's point of view. Chances are one who invests his/her time into trying to identify such varieties isn't doing it for anything other than enjoyment, so the possibility of being credited with a "discovery", or even simple satisfaction may well outweigh a coin's monetary value to the individual.

If you're confident in the belief that this is indeed a genuine variety, perhaps you should consider sending to another attributor.

 

The best way to tell is a side by side. That will help you see if it is normal or hub doubled.



You just have to crop them at the same parameters and size them the same and see if it is/or not hub doubling.

 

I wish I could take pictures like that. I'll give it a shot. Thanks. I have several that came from the same box.
