You know, I have no issue with people like collecting other things. Any hobby that brings enjoyment is great. Having said that......eh, nevermind. I will go back to my ancient coins full of history and not comment further. Edit: Btw, sorry if I derailed your thread OP. I didn't mean to, and I do appreciate people posting new products on here to discuss, so I appreciated it. I just have a hard time wrapping my mind around slabbed modern coins with autographs. What are people collecting? The autograph, the coin, the plastic grade? It just seems weird to me. Like I said, whatever gives people joy more power to them, but I would imagine such "combined" collectibles will never hold their value as much as "pure" collectibles like an autograph or the coin separately. I am a coin collector, so I would never give a rip about an autograph, (or the TPG grade either, but that is another argument).
You won't find a bigger fan than me but I find it illogical to pay that much for Shatner's signature.
If they had one of Spock..I would buy....BUT from what I have been learning on how William Shatner treated his 'Star Trek' cast, then I will pass on that one.
It's funny how they say hand signed in capital letters. Quote - "Each special 'Captain Kirk' NGC label is HAND-SIGNED by William Shatner!"...so what!
We had a Comicon deal last weekend here in Raleigh, NC. Shatner was there and my mailman, who collects some coins and is very good to me when I tell him stuff is coming in the mail, wanted to buy tickets for his kids. $75 for a kid to go and he said $500 to get Shatner's autograph. Of course, he passed on taking his kids.
