Not a clash, die chip. Made from part of the die chipping off leaving your coin with that blob.

Not worth a big premium (if any) I would expect someone to pay $1 though.

I think I understand what jnel92 trying to say. That the 1890 is clashing with the cowboy's hat as in, meeting with, encountering, connecting.. as in "Clash of The Titans!"
You must understand that in error coin definiton a clash is when an image from the reverse and/or obverse side of the coin is transferred to the other side of a coin due to the dies clashing together when there is no blank planchet between the dies.
What you have is a die break. Common in coins. But looks nice I like it!:D

    First, welcome to the neighborhood!

As @coinman1234 said, it is a die break. When part of the die breaks off, it allows metal to flow into the void.

I have a 2005 CA SQ that has a large blob of metal on the brim of John Muir's hat that I call "condor doo doo". Maybe you should call yours, "horse sh!t".

Reminds me of the snap up boots being called Galoshes and the slip on waterproofs made by Red Ball being called Rubbers. Really showing my age>

Also, Can you post a close-up of the cow-boy? I think I see doubling, it looks like machine doubling but a close-up would tell for sure.

Go to your local bank and ask if they have any rolls of coins such as pennies nickels, dimes, quarters, (sometimes halves). Most banks let you buy them for face value. I have found some cool things in them. Sometimes you can also get rolls of brand new solid date rolls from the mint, I have already seen a few this year, I just picked up a roll of 2015 Homestead quarters.
