Nope, just a rehash of stuff already available. I used to collect these but they're just too God awful expensive and I get all of the pieces in the set, in other sets that I collect from the mint. So this ol' boy can't justify the expense........but I do understand why others would like to collect the set.
How much longer before the shills on TV start hawking "First Strike/Early Release" MS-70/'s for only $499 (reduced from only $699)? by the way, I saw Rick Tomaska's TV show and he kinda went to down on the "Early Release" designation as pure marketing hype. Yes, his coins are priced higher than what you might find at a bourse, but he does give out valuable (non-pricing) info
I wonder how the coin market will treat these hyped special packaging products in the future. There are no unique coins in the set, but you do get an LESPS label if you submit to a TPG. My guess is that the best play is to buy and sell right away on eBay if you want to profit. Collectors can always get the COINS they want from other offerings. TC
2015 set is still a TBD.....the 2014 went on sale today....thought I heard they had a packaging problem that prevented release in 2014.
Which begs the question, pre-packaging problem or post packaging problem. If the latter I would be concerned about damaged coins after they were retrieved from the bad packages, unless they were destroyed.
I also ask what kind of packaging problem....they made these sets in 2012 and 2013...so did they switch vendors, or is one of the coins in the set slightly different (i.e. is a high relief Kennedy a little thicker and this is another set with an unannounced special?)
This is the second year of delayed issuance, not sure prior to 2013, I thought this was normal for that product.
