Hello folks. I hope I'm doing this right. I just joined the forum a few minutes ago. I'm looking for grades, opinions, or valuations on this coin. Anyone able to take a shot at a possible eac grade would be helpful too. I believe it is attributed as N-4. Thanks. Scott.
Welcome to CT Scott. I'd call it a VF-30 by a TPG, but the scratch on the face could make it a VF details. As for EAC, 25/30.
I think it has XF details but the scratch on the face and the coloring of the coin suggesting a cleaning and retoning would lessen the value somewhat. 30 to 35 dollars would be my guess on value.
Nice large cent, looks like an N4 based on the date position and the reverse cracks, specifically from the leaf under ES in STATES through the O in OF. Can you get a weight on this as some of the middle to late die state of this variety were struck on oversizes planchets. As to grade, I would call it 35 sharpness but don't know on the net. The coin appears to have some surface issues, but I can't tell for sure based on the pictures. If the surface is nice and smooth, then I would call it at 35 net 30 for the scratch, maybe 35 net 25. If there is some surface stuff it would be closer to 35 net 20 in my opinion.
