I have about 200 2014's that show the same thing but I don't think its a DDO I think its just MD but I am interested to see what others have to say about it.
1st two pictures look like the doubling is on different sides but it is just the shadowing from the flash that give it that appearance - I think...
It has alot to do with the light and angle because that is not a straight on shot lets see a photo of the whole coin
Straight on pictures do little to show machine doubling on a coin with no serifs. It doesn't appear shelf like in those photos but could be. I have one similar somewhere, but is from a later die state.
I have a lot of experience with tilting the USB microscope to see doubling. With the right (wrong?) light, and angle it can photograph like a very much doubled feature. The tell for me now is can I see it from directly above? Is there any way to turn the microscope to make it go away? If the answer is yes to either question I assume it's the "light tricks", and not true doubling. So many time I have been fooled.
Hate to tell you but after a good look at this photo you can clearly see it is die deterioration you can see it in all the letter how they looked hollowed out from deterioration.
