thats my phone and my eye piece taped on and on a camera tripod. Take a look at this and tell me what you think.Guys you dont know what it means to me yall helping me. I've got my mother who was recently diagnosed w kidney cancer. She had it removed but declined kemo. The Drs told her it would be back within 5 years. I just want to be able to tell her to quit her job and enjoy the rest of her life. My father died two years ago and left us in a mess. I'm just a carpenter and work w my family building homes, and I dont make good enough money to tell her to quit. This new hobby of mine gives me a little hope that maybe I will be able to tell her to quit. I've found several double dies but they weren't of any significance so I haven't posted any of those. hope#2.jpg File size: 299.9 KB Views: 0 hope#1.jpg File size: 457.7 KB Views: 0 hope#3.jpg File size: 354.1 KB Views: 0 hope#4.jpg File size: 156.1 KB Views: 0 hope#5.jpg File size: 507.7 KB Views: 0 hope#6.jpg File size: 491.4 KB
well tell me wat you thinjk rick. do you see the notches and doubling on the front of face. spliting on the bottom of the letters of liberty. i think this coin will be worth the effort if it is dd
Sorry, but I have to echo rick, badly deteriorated die, notice the flow lines in between the letters. Coins have taken some serious post mint hits. It's also common to see letters pushed into the rim.
The first photo is of a different coin. the next are of another.what do you think rick. I also have several old wheats that appear to have machining marks on them around the bust.kinda like a little drimmel too mark outlining the bust
It's always hard to tell folks when they do not have something good in hand. But it looks like you might have gotten a USB scope looking at these pics ( I did look at all of them) and when you first start using one you will see all sorts of things that do not look right. The best thing to do is try and find a Uncirculated match of your coin in a photo online and do a comparison between the two. For instance, what you are pointing out in the hair area is simply part of the design, and when these coins have been circulated forever parts of the design are lost, moved around from hard use, banged up from being used in vending machines, etc. It even makes them appear to look like errors. Wheat pennies were notorious for poor details, banged around in Mint bags and totes, etc. The letters were nearly always mushy unless they were some of the first to come off the press. Dies were over used to save money before they were taken out of production because they were so much more expensive then than now. None of this is said to discourage you, only to help. I hope you understand that and don't get riled. Eventually you will hit a good one, but like all of us roll searchers, sometimes it can take a long time and thousands of coins before we hit something good.
