I think it's a Type 1 (non-silver), but is there any chance it is truly Type 2? "1942-P 5C Type 2 (Proof) Jefferson Nickel" http://www.ebay.com/itm/151617584676 Starting bid: $0.99 Buy it Now: $700 I tried to send the seller a question, but eBay put up this message, which I have not seen before: "We're sorry we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of messages this seller receives, they are unable to respond to your specific question right now. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing." Buyer's Profile: "I have been in the coin industry as a wholesale dealer for the past twelve years and am a member of ANA, PNG and numerous other coin organizations."
I don't know if it still works but you used to be able to get round message blocks by contacting the seller from their FB page. That way you are not a bidder, as such, so the blocks do not apply. This may have been closed off (contacting seller from one of their finished auctions also used to work), but in any case I'd avoid a seller who avoids buyers.
I mean, there is a *slight* possibility (1 in a million) that it truly *is* a Type 1 struck on a 35% silver planchet, but then he should say that, and I imagine it would be worth more than even $700.
