This Franklin is in a PCGS rattler holder. I was told those came before the time the FBL designation began being used. I am wondering if anyone thinks it would get the FBL if sent in to NGC. It's a 1963, a date that is very tough to find with FBL. Here is the best close up I could get at the moment.
Be aware that NGC requires both sets of bell lines for the FBL designation. PCGS does not. I'm not sure about yours. I'm leaning toward, "No." Chris
which particular area do you think would hold the coin back? Being that it's my coin I'm definitely biased, but I think they look pretty good. There is some weakness to left of the crack on the upper set, but aren't tpg's ok with that?
I say it wouldn't get the designation . Looks like a couple of small breaks in the lower lines . But it could be the pics , you have it in hand and should be the best judge . Hope I'm wrong .
The bottom set has a weak spot just above and to the left of the striker. The top set is weak on both sides of the crack. Chris
I don't think it would make it at PCGS. Too many interuptions in the lower lines. Since NGC requires both sets to be full, it won't make it there either.
Yes, rattlers pre-date the use of the FBL designation. As many have said, NGC looks at both sets of lines. It definitely won't make it at NGC. PCGS only looks at the bottom set, and I don't think it would make it there either. Weakness in both sets of lines, as well as the hefty mark at the far left, preclude FBL in my book.
