I believe its the cabin that Abe Lincoln was born in back in 1809.

2009 was the 200 anniversary of Lincoln's birth. To celebrate this, the Mint released four separate reverse designs for the cent.

Is it worth anything? And Chris the number that was released and I've never seen anything like this

You are not the only person that has not seen a lot of these. In Mass. I'm lucky to have seen a full roll of all of the four different designs since they came out. I have put more from original bank wrapped rolls into circulation that were damaged than I have found. And from circulation they are only worth one cent.

Peaches, like tommy said, those found in circulation are worth face value except for any varieties. I don't collect them, so I can't say what they are. The four different designs are Birth and Early Childhood, Formative Years, Professional Life and Presidency.

These were heavily hoarded when they were first released and to some degree still are today. Similar to the way most people still treat bicentennial coinage. Not rare and not valuable but when ever someone finds one in circulation, they usually put it in a jar or in a drawer.

This is also the most difficult of all the cents of 2009 to identify for varieties. Those log ends are a real eye burner. There is an extra ear lobe on the 2009P and it's listed as WDDO-005. All together there are 145 doubled dies listed just for the 2009P reverse.

You can buy {after market of course} as they were offered by the US mint in a 4 coin set struck in the same medal composition as the first Lincoln cent in 1909.
Nice set of all 4 coins. Search e bay they run 10-15$ per set

That is the coin that got me started back into collecting. I saw one and was shocked that they changed the back. So, that's when I had to learn about them and get more!
Have fun collecting and you will learn a lot.

Well the reason I started again is compliments of my future husband. My coin collection was stolen from me a good few 7+ yes ago. Anyway I'm shocked by what I was missing. Wow. I started collecting again with the good old time fashioned Wheaties. I dream to have a Morgan. A braided cent.a three cent piece and a two cent

A good dream :) And easily achieved with a bit of patience and knowledge. I feel this is a very fulfilling hobby.

haha it can seem daunting but if you really want too you can do it. Honestly morgans in low grade are like $30 and those others are fairly cheap in low grades. Depends what you're looking for. Heres a large cent I picked up for like $20.

The reverse designs were created by four different artists, but I think they exhibit wonderful style and cohesion - some of the most elegant artwork on modern US coins in my opinion. I actually bought the 2009 Unc sets to have these in bronze. They're the only mint sets I own...
