I thought that too... it has been n the holder 4 atleast 10-15 years... it maybe was a gold or a light blue color not as dark as it is now when graded atleast

Lol. :) Don't walk in and say you'll take half of Greysheet bid though... ;) Get their offer first! And don't let them beat you up on the ANACS holder, either; they're not too bad, especially these older ones.

Youre right paul... i actually prefer anacs when it comes to morgans believe it or not... every single time ive ever sold an anacs coin.that is the 1st.thing out of.the guys mouth b4 he even looks at THE COIN... I know the game, unfortunately a little too well... thats y i say they have a legitimate reason to beat me up this time... altho i wont admit it until the cash hits my hand lol

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

While it may technically be a 67, market grading is going to knock a point or two off that. First, you'll never get anywhere near the price guide value for an ANACS coin - the price guides assume PCGS or NGC. So, knock a bit off for that. And then, the ugly toning is going to knock some more value down.

You paid a retail MS-65 price for the coin - and I think that's fair. You may be able to flip it for a few bucks, but you paid a fair price for a fair coin.

How about this then... what if i were to crack it out and dip it?? This all hypothetical but its actually the 1st thing that crossed my mind when it hammered... And what solution would you suggest using if so?... Wouldnt a coin like this be a good candidate?? I doubt ill go through all the trouble but it IS an option right?? Especially if noone will buy it

The problem with trying to dip this one are the dark areas. They need more time in the dip than the rest of the coin. You risk loosing much of the luster the coin has.
There are ways to do this but it's not something most folks should try.
To me this is one of those coins that should not be messed with. Not worth the cost or risk.

I don't understand. You bought a coin at auction for MS65-66 money, but you think a dealer who has tried to screw you in the past is going to pay you half greysheet for a coin in ANACS plastic with an obvious eye appeal issue? I wish you luck.

So you r saying i wont make $ on this @ $45 in it??? You guys kill me... Would you like to place a small wager on that?? Or did you just wanna eat crow when I report back the sales price?? Ill eat crow if noone wants it... @ $45 ill keep it as worse case scenario... and btw theres more than 1 dealer @ a show...and NO i wont deal w someeone who has screwed me over in The past... it was sort of just my outlook on all dealers as a joke, well sort of

I'm sure you can make money on it. I mean, worst case, put it up on eBay and you'll probably get at least what you want for it, less fees. Even if I wouldn't buy it, there are definitely more than a few people out there who would.

I mean, seriously, just put some decent pics, the grade, and a couple of MS67 price guide numbers and you'll get people to bid on it.

I like how you think paul... i would no doubt do the best on ebay... i sell @ the flea market but not until it gets warm ($7 table fee) if need be ill off it then... i was gonna use the $ from this @ a show next weekend to buy/cherry pick something i REALLY like!!

Lehigh96 if i misunderstood you i apologize just seemed like you were crushing my hopes/dreams...

I didn't say that, you should be able to make money on the coin, there are always people who simply trust the plastic rather than their eyes. I just am not sure you are gonna get the guy who has given you problems in the past to be your sucker.

I won't place a wager on what you propose but I am a betting man. Crack the coin and submit it to either PCGS or NGC. If it comes back higher than MS66 I will pay you double your purchase price and the grading fee and you keep the coin. If it comes back MS66 or below, you pay the grading fee and I get the coin. What say you? I have a submission going to NGC pretty soon btw.

Ya know... this is VERY tempting... if this was a morgan or a series i knew a lil better i would take you up on it.... how about this: if i cant make atleast $30 on it, ill take you up on your bet!! Id pick ngc ofcourse

LMAO....this should be good. Man that coin looks like it has great luster too. That blemish on the jaw sucks. Since it's in an old ANACS holder, the deduction won't be as great as if it were graded by them recently.

Getting a Mercury in a MS68 holder usually requires knock your socks of luster, at least for PCGS and NGC. The luster is fine, but not quite there IMHO.
