Found this beauty going though $50 in pennies. Probably best of the bunch. IMG_0007-8.jpg IMG_0005-9.jpg

Of course, it's a beauty! It was the year my beautiful Wife was born. :)
Oh, about the coin? Yeah, it's really nice. Probably sat in someone's collection for a while?? :bookworm:

Good reason to like it. I wonder if it is good enough to grade.

What? My Wife or the Coin??
Seriously though, the grading fees are way more than the value of this coin. ;)

Pay attention, you graded your wife in #3 above.

I guess I should reread my posts before posting.
If it grades at 67, it would be worth it. This one looks better than the one shown on PCGS. But that is through my untrained eye.

Appears to be a misaligned die strike.
While this coin may be an AU keeper, I don't think it's worth grading.
I don't see this coin as mint state. There are a number of scratches and nicks on both sides. Mint luster is attractive and can be deceptive.

I see the misalignment, but it is very minor. This is just a very shiny, and in great condition penny I found in a roll. I am also trying to compare it to the best example listed on PCGS to see if is at least a 67.

    on pcgs MS67: [IMG]

If it were to grade MS I don't see how it is more than a low 63, especially from a roll.
You could save brand new minted cents and not find a high grade in the lot over 65 or 66. When you get to the MS67 68 69 business strikes, it is almost impossible to find such a coin in circulation. In USA Coin Book the 1973-S in MS 65 is listed at 0.96 cents. Your coin shows a number of nicks on the reverse rim, some other nicks on the reverse and a scratch on the right shoulder on the obverse. A smaller scratch at 8 o'clock on the obv. and other minor scratches. The gouge on the jacket I believe disqualifies it from MS.
Things can look good in hand to the naked eye but under a loupe you will see all kinds of defects.

I can see the misalignment on both sides. That would make this an off-center, although not enough to matter.

That's a handsome one, cut a little out of collar. The thing about grading these is the smaller they are the larger loom the imperfections on the grade, meaning, you really have to be particular on these grades. I'm seeing a gem, possibly a high gem. Good pictures, that's the way to show these babies off.

Yes Kentucky I wasn't sure about the reverse. It appeared to be slight, and heavier on the obv. Although as an error coin (off center) it's probably worth around a dollar. Paddyman would know.

The grade isn't even close. Yours is in AU as said above. It is nice and could be a slider. Just not enough luster to get a grade above Gem (65)
