First coin issued for the modern Olympics. 1952 Finland 500 Markkaa. This was a circulating Commemorative coin with a mintage of 586,000. It was over 2000 years prior since a coin was issued for the Olympics.

Part of that coin, by the way, was used on a 2002 coin that commemorated the 1952 Summer Olympics. :)

The 1951 issue of the Finnish Olympic 500-markaa commemorative is the spark that eventually lit the modern world's Olympic coin craze, whether issued by the host country or the most remote participant.

    Great stuff, Chris.

Picked this up last week. Sellers image. Had a 1F, never the 2F.

All original skin, not a cleaning or dip in sight. Better in hand.

Nice, only got 1918 because it was my late grandmothers birth year. Had a 1918 1F the same date so thats why I wanted the 2F the same year.

Three nice silver proofs in a huge coin/medal lot with toning around the reverse side edge.
