I have a question related to the 2006-W Silver Proof Eagles...excluding the reverse proof issue. The 2006-W's were struck earlier in the year and issued as "First Strike" by a few Grading Services. Later in the year some were struck and included in the 20th anniversary sets. I've noticed both selling for different prices, particularly when certified. The question I have is whether there is a difference in the coins.. such as burnished dies, etc. What is the difference (besides a slab) between a 2006-W PR69-DCAM first strike and a 2006-W PR69-DCAM 20th Anniversary issue. :headbang:
The "First Strike" slabbed coin is merely a coin that was sent in to be graded in the first part of last year. It may or may not have been an actual "first strike". The "20th anniversery issue" slabbed coin was a a proof Eagle that was part of the 20th anniversery set that was sent in to be graded in its original packaging. The only real difference is plastic slab. The coins themselves are the same thing as far as I'm concerned.
