I just a commercial by the US mint advertising the new presidential collector set...anyone seen it? It was on the discovery channel...I cant find them online sadly...they were pretty good...talked about how many collectors there are 'numismatist' and showed people looking in a tip jar...showed 2 people at a wishing well, the guy throws the coin in, the woman pockets the coin...etc...
Been a long time since I've seen a US Mint commercial on television... honestly the last one I remember was one advertising the Statue of Liberty commemoratives (way back in 1986). As I recall the coomercial took place in 2086 where an old man and a kid, apparently his grandson or maybe great-grandson, were looking at the Statue of Liberty as they were preparing a celebration for its bicentennial, and the old man made some kind of sppech about how he remembered the first renovation and celebration back in 1986, and gave the kid the Statue of Liberty commemorative half dollar. Another Mint commercial I remember from about the same time had Ronald Reagan himself endorsing the new American Silver and Gold Eagles.
when I was looking for this commercial online (never finding it) I found a news bit about an advertising campaign they did in 2000 about the state quarters that won advertising awards. I dont remember seeing them though... The new ones about the Pres. dollars are pretty funny though...
I have seen the are you a numismatist comercials, they're quite funny, even though they equvilate coin collecting to a drug habit and the us mint is a form of intervention
They started the Are you a numismatist commercials last year and they were funny. (They had two different commercials) I did notice that this year they changed them to add in the four coin presedent proof set. In last years version they showed a state quarter proof set. The commericails used to be available on Youtube, I don't know if they still are. Took a quick look and didn't find it.
I saw it last night also. It's a great idea because it may help keep some people from getting ripped off by some of the TV coin shows. Oh look we can buy that gold for 700.00 instead of 1400.00 fron Coin V---t :loud: :secret:
I saw the commercial last week while I was on vacation in Las Vegas. Didn't see any presidential dollars circulating in the casinos, but they are still using the Kennedy Half's in the poker rooms. Lou
