Constantius II Siliquae

Greetings!
I am happy to say I am the soon to be owner of this nice Siliqua.
This is a Pre-Reform Siliqua of Constantius II (not a nice fellow), struck at Constantinople between 351-355 CE
Weight -3.18 Grams


To top it off I found this nice Post-Reform Siliqua that I will be adding to the list.

Both are beautiful coins. I have no siliqua in my collection, but not from a lack of trying.

 

You make up for the lack of Siliqua with other very beautiful coins so I will let it slide.

On another note, I have been looking all day and cannot find a reason why Constantius II debased the Siliqua by a third of its weight. Was there an economic crisis in the 350's?

An intense dislike that is not entirely unjustified. That "dynasty" produced two of the worst Emperors of the Empire.
