Is this an error coin from 1957

This 1957 D penny has a wierd thing on the back that I think could be an error

Looks like corrosion or something adhered to the coin, but not an error.

 

"Crop" and "resize" are your friends.

It looks like there are dried up boogers on the back of it

Yep--take a close look at mintmarks in the 40s-60s, you're bound to find a repunched one.

 

What's a repunched date

 

A repunched date (or RPD) happens on older coins, mostly from the 19th century, when the date was added to the die later. Sometimes the date wasn't positioned right the first time, and so they punched it a second time. Here's a really dramatic one on an IHC from 1894. There are a lot of these to be found on Indian cents.
