I thought I would share this on here. I was at the bank and asked if they had anything cool. They had a bunch of halves and this clad lowball was there.

    197x d

I think I may see the top of the 7 in 197 but the last number is worn into the edge

How could a relatively new coin end up like that?

One time I ended up with a 2010 shield cent and it was nearly black, totally corroded.... :dead:

Any ideas of a value???? Hard to put a price on though. Do you think it is a pocket piece or artificial. It looks like a pocket piece to me, I tried to sand down a clad quarter once to make it look blank and it looked nothing like this half. The half has no hairlines that I see and is not shiny at all, completely dull, that first photo has horrible lighting, I took it in the supermarket with my phone

Just leave a new outside for a while - they corrode quickly. I like that half - nice and worn. :)

These coins must have been pocket pieces for people that work in a gravel yard LOL I have a 197x cent thats between FR2/AG3. Very odd

Here's the Ike I'm working on, not much progress though I have only had it for two months. I take it everywhere in my pocket. 20150222_130357.jpg

Are you gonna sell it on eBay for $750?

There's probably someone out there who might pay a few dollars for it as an oddity.

Anyone remember this one I posted earlier? Sold for a dollar plus .85 cents postage. The person who bought it was tickled pink. And I picked up a positive feedback. img141.jpg

I can't figure it either. But it's not like I advertise them as an error or rare. Just as an oddity with question marks in the title. It's possible that a newbie thinks it's something it is not but as long as I sell them responsibly it's okay I guess.
