Hey guys, just found this out yesterday...Any idea why FBL Franklin Halves are not listed in the greysheet? I mean, they got DMPL Morgans listed in there. Pretty sure there are prices for Full Band Merc Dimes. And i believe they even have a price list for Full Step Jefferson Nickels. Why no love for Franklins? The reason i am asking is because my buddy just picked up a 1949s Franklin in ms65 FBL... He only paid $110>(greysheet non-fbl price).. .... Its listed in numismedia for $400. and numismatic news lists it for $700!!!!!! Wow!! So has anyone ever scored something like this from a dealer who uses greysheet?? Are there any other series with this same discrepancy??? Sorry for rambling im just floored by this!!

To my knowledge, the (regular) weekly Grey Sheet doesn't cover FS Jeff's or FB Merc's as well. It would just take up too much space to make it worthwhile and cost effective. Morgan's are a different story because these coins are so popular to many collectors from novice to expert.

I agree chris, me and a gazillion other people love DMPL Morgans.. I guess you are right about taking up space w all the extra designations... just seems like a dealer would need that info to price stuff out.. to me it makes more sense to take out ms60 prices for franklins and add ms65 fbl in that slot.. especially since some coins are a $1000 difference in that grade.. i know one thing: ill be looking that particuliar dealers stock over REAL HARD next show for FBLs & FBs and any other dealer that uses the greysheet exclusively!

I think there are more dealers who use a variety of source material rather than relying primarily on the Grey Sheet. The online price guides provide sales records for nearly all grades rather than the limited selections provided by CDN. The CDN is handy for quoting basic prices, but even for Morgan's, it lacks a lot.

all those price lists were price averages and detected by few dealers only. they are not the real or true prices. not even complete nor updated frequently. you want to obtain the real price. simply call or ask your dealers that you transacted with them before. that will be the best.
