We have a 1835 Liberty Half Cent stamped off center and was wondering how much this coin with a stamp defect would possibly be worth. There is a small nail hole in it towards the top of the coin.

Well depending on how far off it is, without the nail hole maybe $150 - $400. With the nail hole, maybe $20 to $30.

Nolan Ryan one of the all-time greats. I always pitcher him in an Astros uniform.

I just wish he had not stayed that last season and threw his shoulder out. Frank Thomas, another all time great!

I think Frank Thomas was one of the all time, most underrated players. Very good first baseman, very good power, and always had an avg. well above .300.

Absolutely. Stayed out of trouble, started charitable causes and stayed with his team until they traded him out. Got a lot of respect for him.

    I like it.

If you search Heritage's archives, similar pieces not holed can go for a few hundred as mentioned above. There is an 1825 with a neatly done hole that sold for about $300 is the closest I can find to this one. Unless that is a rare die variety, I can't see it going over $100 though as-is.

Well it sure looks to be a off center strike . Nice hole but still very neet . I would keep :)

Is it possible or worth trying to repair/fill this? The hole looks as old as the coin with the sliding of the attempted hole making. Wondering if it was a drilled hole or attempted punched hole. Interesting piece.

It is, but it wont increase the value and may lower it.

Nice find I like it. Older type errors are not easy to come by with out paying the price . That said I keep it if you are into errors. Even if not very cool to add to your collection .

Thing is, we don't collect. My husband has had this, along with others, since he was a child. Neither of us have interest in coins and no idea what the worth of his collection is. Looking for someone to help us.

I think other estimates are in line, around $100. This is a nice off center strike, but its not big enough off center, or in nice enough condition, to be worth a lot. Cool coin, worth some money, but not 4 figures.

What else does he have? We all enjoy looking at coins!

Well here is a similar one from the Dan Holmes collection without the hole and a little more eye appeal. it sold for $299
