I just found this Washington dollar. It's surface is more dull than a regular Washington Dollar, and it has a darker gold appearance. It is on the right side of my photos. Is this some sort of planchet error? It cam straight from a roll...

It looks quite normal to me. Given the type of metal these coins are made of it is to be expected for them to be of various shades of color from time to time.

I'm not so sure....I've looked through about $1,500 in these coins and this is the only one I have seen that is this color....

Perhaps it spent a little more/less time in the platting process.

I agree with Doug that given the type of metal these coins are made of it is to be expected for them to be of various shades of color from time to time. Also, coins on the ends of rolls will usually differ in color from the other coin in the roll as they are more exposed to the enviroment and toning. It is possible that the Mint was again experimenting with the special washes that was used on some of the Sacagawea Dollars! If so, then you could have the first one known to have been dipped in it and it will have a significant value over a mormal Washington Dollar. You can either wait to see if anything is announced by the Mints or in Coin World about the use of the special washes on the Washington Dollars or you could make some inquiries.

They seemed to be having a lot of trouble learning how to do lettered edges again lol... though think it's due to not having done them for 74 years. They'll get better with practice I'm sure.

It might have been dipped in a coin dip intended for AE coins...that's my suggestion...
