Theses shield cent are so much different then the old lincolns, it now more about thickness, or width, noticing, etc. theres nice noticing on the Y of Liberty, also nice thickness on the date..
I assume you are meaning notching rather than 'noticing'. I see no increased thickness of the date, nor the photo of the 'Y' at all, but all I see indicates no single squeeze doubling, just MD. Flatter lighting is needed.
Thanking you for the spell check, there is no extra lighting on this coin, only lighting is from the dino-scope, and thats turn as low as it will go.. I'll take a new image of the date, and Y of Liberty...
I have been going through my 2014's and I have the same thing maybe earlier die state but I am starting to think its just a over used die. You probably have doubling on the nose as well and the beard, parts of the hair and his lower back as well?
No doubling on the nose, beard, or lower back either... If you want, you can post some images of your coin here, or start a new thread, I would love to see it..
If you look at the 4 on ours, theres some wear there, what does the top of the hair look like on yours, is there a lot of tooling done in that area, the one I have the hair is still full, no tooling done yet, I like to see what else is going on with your coin, hard to tell with your images, heres a full size images of the obverse, its also has the same split in the T and Y of liberty like wexlers DDO-001 heres a link to wexlers site http://www.doubleddie.com/1169840.html
Yea give me a lil bit and ill send them in a message but if I remember correctly I don't think there is any tooling on mine either. The ones i have are uncirculated so its very difficult to take a photo without a glare
If you look carefully at the notching on the 'T' and 'Y' on wexler's photos, the notch doesn't divide it into half as yours seem to , The notch portion on wexlers divides it to a much smaller portion, maybe 20% or so. Also the extra thickness on Wexler's '4' still leaves the larger part of the 'doubling appearance' similar to the normal '4' thickness. On yours, the 2 portions are about the total size of the '4' crossbar, an indication of MD, which I think it is, but not in my hand, so an opinion. I can say that it certainly doesn't match up to either of Wexlers on the URL above.
