Hey all! Proving that restlessness and Internet access are not always bad things, just got this sweet 1946 Walker delivered today from eBay. It has a bit more luster in hand than the original seller's pics, but I'm not so sure it would grade as MS...even as an AU this was a sweet find. In case you didn't notice, this is the big DDR for this date. Check out E PLURIBUS UNUM, the eagle's feathers and talons, and the tree on the lower left. I'm smiling from ear to ear!
Figured it out Had to look through about 600 items before I found this one...so I'm extra relieved that the actual coins in the auction showed up.
That is the V101 according to my book. Double reverse die. Only thing wrong is that I didn't find it...
Nice find I love cherry picking e bay. It really shocks me that not only e bay but at shows that coin dealers are clueless to the varieties that are in their cases! Last Fall a dealer friend increased his profits over 30% on items he had that he had no clue were a variety .
I love it too...until sellers send me different coins. Hate it when that happens...you look through thousands of listings to find a couple nice picks...then they "accidentally" send you a completely different coin and wonder why you aren't happy. Even funnier with slabs...how they don't double check the numbers before they ship is beyond me. BUT...this one arrived, so I'm happy!
I sit here at night going over listings and find all kind of varieties if I'm not interested I alert a few friends of mine to see if they want to pull the trigger . In the last 4 months at shows I have found value wise over $1000. In variety coins that I have paid less than 200 for. The trouble is I don't want to flip them as I like them so much. Besides there's nothing like sitting there poker face asking how much will you take for this coin all the time inside you're like ready to explode knowing that if the dealer gives you a good number you need to wait till you get out side before you start the happy dance.
