This is an odd chip that adjoins the rim, but doesn't meld into the rim. It is roughly the same height as the rim, if not a tad higher. It has a die crack, that contains a small chip, which leaves the west side and traverses the bottom of the bust. Is this considered a small, odd shaped CUD, or is it a large chip/small break, that just happens to be unbelieveably close to the rim? I'm sur it turned into a nice CUD if the die was used a while longer.

The two close-up photos look different. The first looks raised, and the second looks recessed. Did you just burst your bubble?

Nope. It's lighting from opposite angles. It's not a bubble. I tried to depress it first.

Yeah they do - one looks like a burst air bubble in an old glass insulator and the other looks like a raised "gob" of metal. Thinking Lincoln may need hernia surgery!

The images were taken within seconds of each other. Well, as long as it takes to twist a coin 180 degrees. I assure you, it's not zinc rot or a plating bubble. It's a chip. It has a die crack attached to the left side.

Yeah - the last picture is the best - looks like a piece popped off the coin - lamination error when it was gettin rolled to make blanks then popped out when being struck??
