    These boxes, in my experience, invariably have a sheet of lead in the base, so don't assume that the weight is mostly silver. Possibly buyers may not know that and assume that the the item is mostly silver with a light wood lining.
    This may account for the high bids, they think they will get almost 4 pounds of silver.

    => very cool box, but probably only worth a couple/few hundred bucks (again, pretty cool though)
